Board of Directors

Chairman of the Board

James Dondero

Mr. Dondero is Co-founder and President of Highland Capital Management, L.P. Mr. Dondero has over 30 years of experience in the credit markets. Prior to founding Highland in 1993, Jim served as chief investment officer of Protective Life’s GIC subsidiary and helped grow the business from concept to over $2 billion between 1989 and 1993. His portfolio management experience includes mortgage-backed securities, investment grade corporates, leveraged bank loans, high-yield bonds, emerging market debt, derivatives, preferred stocks and common stocks. From 1985 to 1989, he managed approximately $1 billion in fixed income funds for American Express. Prior to American Express, he completed the financial training program at JP Morgan. Jim received a BS in Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Virginia. Jim is a Certified Managerial Accountant and has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He currently serves as Chairman for Cornerstone Healthcare Group, CCS Medical and NexBank and serves on the Board of Directors of American Banknote Corporation, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Patrick Boyce

Mr. Boyce is a retired Partner of Highland Capital Management, L.P. During his career at Highland, Mr. Boyce served in multiple firm-wide operating and investing roles including Chief Financial Officer and Head of Private Equity. Prior to joining Highland, Mr. Boyce worked in the Investment Banking departments of Solomon Smith Barney and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette focused on portfolio companies of financial sponsors. He has an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BBA in Finance from Baylor University where he was a Teagle Scholar and on the NCAA golf team. In addition, Mr. Boyce has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Illinois. Mr. Boyce previously served on the Board of Directors of American HomePatient (as Chairman), Consolidated Restaurants, CCS Medical and as an Advisory Board Member of the Center for Brain Health at The University of Texas at Dallas.

Reece Fulgham

Mr. Fulgham is a senior financial executive and CPA (inactive) with over 30 years of accounting and management experience across a broad range of industries and situations as an auditor, board member, operating management and advisor. Mr. Fulgham is chairman of the audit committee and also sits on the compliance committee of Cornerstone. Mr. Fulgham received his Bachelors of Business Administration from Southwest Texas State University. Mr. Fulgham also sits on the Board of Directors of American Home Patient, Trussway Holdings and 3P Processing.

Steve Jakubcanin

Mr. Jakubcanin brings over 15 years of healthcare executive leadership experience in long-term acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, home health care, personal care services, hospice, and medical home care. Mr. Jakubcanin joins Cornerstone from AccentCare where he served as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to AccentCare, he served as Senior Vice President of Kindred Healthcare’s Central Region. Overall, he served 13 years at Kindred Healthcare with increasing levels of responsibility. Mr. Jakubcanin is a trained Pharmacist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and an MBA from Wayne State University.

Scott Wilson

Mr. Wilson is a Managing Director in the Private Equity group at Highland Capital Management, L.P. Prior to his current role, Mr. Wilson worked as a Principal in Highland’s Strategy group. Before joining Highland, Mr. Wilson worked for years with McKinsey & Company in their Atlanta location. As an Engagement Manager, he led McKinsey and client teams focusing on sales and marketing improvements and new growth and organization strategies. He also was responsible for the internal training program for McKinsey’s five Southern office locations. Mr. Wilson received an MBA with honors in Strategic Management from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Economics, also from the Wharton School. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Cornerstone Healthcare Group, Tandem Hospital Partners, and CCS Medical.  He has previously served on the Board of Directors of American HomePatient, Epocal, and Romacorp.

Prior to joining Cornerstone, Mr. Schultz served in Division and Regional CFO roles with Psychiatric Solutions/Universal Health Services. Prior to this, he held executive positions, including the Vice President of Finance (Midwest Region), with Kindred Healthcare. Mr. Schultz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from St. Xavier University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Ms. Adams is an experienced healthcare technology professional with over 15 years’ experience. Ms. Adams brings demonstrated experience in strategic planning, developing, designing, and implementing information systems. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Ms. Adams served as the Vice President of Information Technology for Texas Health Resources, where she led the EMR integration and consolidation efforts of a multi-site healthcare group. Ms. Adams holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina and a Master of Science in Health Informatics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Alabama.​

Mr. Boemer is a seasoned healthcare professional with over twenty years of industry experience in senior living. As the Chief Operating Officer for Senior Care, he will provide operational oversight to senior care facilities. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Greg was the Vice President of Operations for Capital Senior Living. Greg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and attended the University of North Texas with an emphasis in Gerontology.

Ms. Boney brings a wealth of knowledge from her prior senior leadership roles in sales and development. She has served as Senior Vice President for Community Hospitals Corporation and Vice President of Development for Kessler Institute/Select Medical. Ms. Boney attended the University of Cincinnati. She has demonstrated expertise in developing, implementing and evaluating marketing objectives for sustainable growth and turnaround strategies to improve healthcare facility operational and financial performance.​

Ms. Davis is a dynamic healthcare leader with over seventeen years of specialized experience in Case Management. As Vice President of Case Management, Ms. Davis will have complete oversight of the day to day operations of the Case Management programs for a portfolio of hospitals. She will lead Cornerstone’s ongoing case management strategy and will track Case Management data, noting trends, and identify improvement opportunities. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Ms. Davis served as Vice President of Case Management for Acuity Healthcare. She holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration from South University and a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Northwestern Ohio. She is an active member of Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and the American Case Management Association (ACMA).

Cherie Elledge

Ms. Cherie Elledge, as Chief Revenue Officer, is responsible for developing and executing strategies that will increase overall revenue growth for CHG’s diversified lines of business. She brings more than 15 years of success in achieving growth, revenue and profit goals in the healthcare service lines for which she has been responsible. Ms. Elledge has varied healthcare experience having worked with STAC, LTAC, inpatient and outpatient rehab and home health providers. She previously served as Senior Vice President for Select Medical’s LTAC division and Chief Development and Strategy Officer for GlobalRehab Hospitals. She is a member of Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, American College of Healthcare Executives and she was a Board Member for the GlobalRehab Foundation and a member of the Health Industry Council. Ms. Elledge holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Mass Communications and is completing a Master’s degree in Public Administration in Finance from University of Texas in Arlington.

Ms. Feasel has over 25 years of healthcare experience in long-term acute care, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, as well as home health. Ms. Feasel held several senior and executive level positions within her 25 years with her most recent executive leadership role at Kindred Healthcare as a Vice President of their LTAC Hospital Division. Overall, she served Kindred Healthcare for 20 years with increasing levels of responsibility from Director of Rehabilitation to Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer as well as Market CEO for the Hospital Division and Vice President of their Rehab Division. Ms. Feasel holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s of Business Administration degree from St. Leo University in Florida.

Keith Furman

Keith brings over 30 years of leadership experience managing hospitals and treatment centers across the United States. His leadership experience includes capabilities in both adult and adolescent treatment settings including residential and inpatient hospitalization. He most recently served as the CEO for Rock Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in Georgetown, Texas which included three separate behavioral health treatment centers. Keith also held executive leadership roles with Tenet and Acadia Healthcare. While serving as CEO at Abilene Behavioral Health hospital in 2009, his facility was named as Acadia Healthcare's Facility of the Year award. His passion for behavioral health was enabled some years ago when he served as a Correctional Officer, Counselor and Dormitory Manager of an Adult Alcohol and Substance Abuse Unit, operated by the State of New York. Keith holds both an M.A. degree in Educational Psychology and a B.S. degree in Sociology from State University of New York.

Ms. Lewis brings over 20 years of experience to her executive clinical leadership role with Cornerstone. Prior to joining Cornerstone, she served as the Vice President of Clinical and Quality Services for Acuity Healthcare and had previously served as a Regional Chief Nursing Officer for HealthSouth. Ms. Lewis is a Registered Nurse with a Master of Nursing Administration and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mid-Western State University. She is a Board Certified Nurse Executive and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality.

Prior to joining Cornerstone, his experience included legal roles supporting a range of healthcare providers, including acute care hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, home health and hospice. Mr. McDonough is licensed to practice law in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. He received his J.D. from The University of Tulsa and graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.​

Mr. O’Sullivan, FACHE, has over 20 years’ experience in healthcare administration, holding senior leadership positions spanning across physician group practice management, short-term acute care regional health systems and long-term acute care regional operations. His career included over 12 years in the West Virginia Air National Guard as both an Enlisted Airman and an Officer. After working for Coastal Carolinas Health Alliance, he joined Regency Hospital Company and served as Chief Executive Officer in Mississippi and Georgia hospitals. He transitioned his career to LifeCare Management Services and oversaw hospital operations in Nevada, Idaho and Colorado. Mr. O’Sullivan earned a doctorate in Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University, a Master of Healthcare Management from Marshall University and an undergraduate degree from Concord College.

Mr. Robertson is responsible for reporting key operating metrics, identifying key operational improvements and managing the financial close and reporting for the hospitals. He has over 20 years of accounting experience which includes 10+ years in leadership roles. Mr. Robertson has held financial leadership roles in various healthcare organizations including LTAC, Hospice, Home Health and Pharmacy Services. Mr. Robertson served as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Cameron University in OK. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Leslie Vajner joined Cornerstone in February of 2017 as the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships. Leslie brings more than 20 years of health care experience as a clinician, consultant, and executive leader with a passion for business development, relationship management, innovation, patient safety, and quality of care. Prior to joining Cornerstone, she functioned as the Administrative Director, Center for Connected Care overseeing The Cleveland Clinic's post-acute assets and strategy including home care, hospice, and physician practice management,. This work helped to support several CMS, Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation initiatives including bundled payments, ACO and Independence at Home. At Kindred, she served in various clinical operations and business development leadership roles including as Sr. Director of Care Management and Clinical Integration, Chief Clinical Officer and District Director of Clinical Integration and Business Development. Leslie began her healthcare career as a registered nurse specializing in Critical Care, Catheterization Lab, Telemetry and Emergency Care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University and her Master of Health Administration from The Ohio State University. She has written and presented various healthcare guides and publications related to Post-Acute and Long-term Care.
